My YA Summer Reads

 I thought I would do a follow-up to My Middle Grade Summer Reads post almost a fortnight ago, sharing some of the YA books that I've been reading/want to read this summer.

Now, I'm very aware that the summer is coming to an end as we approach September, but 10 middle-grade books and 10 YA books over one summer was always a bit of a stretch for me. In the past, that would have been easier for me but with other responsibilities and events, I was never going to read them all in my six-week summer.

Either way, here are the ten books I have started reading or will be reading soon...

I'm Loving: WRD Magazines

It's obviously no secret that I love books, especially when it comes to books for younger readers - from picture books to YA. So imagine my excitement when I discovered there is an amazing magazine dedicated to sharing children's books!

WRD magazines are for children aged 8-13+ (these are spread across two separate magazines, which I will talk about in more detail later in the post). The company rebranded as WRD in 2013, after previously being known as tBkmag. They really are the best source of up-to-date releases and what is happening in the world of children's books. The magazines include interviews, special feature pieces and - my personal favourite - extracts from new releases so you can have a sneak peek at some new books.

I was very excited about the release of this book so I'm sure you can imagine how much that multiplied when I was offered an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review (I'm just sorry that the review wasn't quite as advanced but thank you to Scholastic for sending it to me!)

Book Review: Heartbreak Boys by Simon James Green

Hi!

I'm back with another book review for you and this is a book that I have been desperate to read since I first head about it at the Scholastic Showcase event at the start of the year (just before everything turned weird!)

First of all, here is the synopsis for Heartbreak Boys:

At the start of summer, Jack and Nate find themselves dumped as their respective exes, Dylan and Tariq, start up a new relationship together. Not only that, their exes start posting pics on social media, showing the whole world how fabulous their new life together is!

Jack and Nate are reeling. Not to be outdone, they decide to create their own 'highlights reel' and show their exes that they're having an even better time.

But between the depressing motorway service station motels, damp campsites, and an ultimate showdown with the exes, something epic really is happening: Jack and Nate are learning to get over their heartache and open themselves up to new possibilities for love.
