Blog Tour: Forever Ends on Friday by Justin A. Reynolds | Review & Giveaway

I'm so excited to be posting this review today as part of the blog tour for Forever Ends on Friday by Justin A. Reynolds - along with a giveaway in collaboration with the publisher!

First, here is the synopsis for the book:

What if you could bring your best friend back to life – but only for a short time?

Jamal’s best friend, Q, doesn’t know that he died and that he’s about to die . . . again. He doesn’t know that Jamal tried to save him. And that the reason they haven’t been friends for two years is because Jamal blames Q for the accident that killed his parents.

But what if Jamal could have a second chance? A new technology allows Q to be reanimated for a few weeks before he dies... permanently. And Q’s mom is not about to let anyone ruin this miracle by telling Q about his impending death. So how can Jamal fix everything if he can’t tell Q the truth?

I had high hopes for this book because I had previously fallen in love with Justin's writing when I read Opposite of Always back in the spring of 2019. I am more than happy to report that this book did not disappoint. I know we are less than 20 days into 2021 but I have already read/started 6 books and I would say that this is definitely my favourite of the year so far and I am pretty confident that it will be in my top ten books at the end of the year too.

I adore the writing style of Justin A. Reynolds. I find it almost addictive and hard to put down. His writing is constantly interesting and pulling you in, making me want to read late into the night (I had to stop myself just after midnight one evening last week because I had work the next day!)

The storyline was another unique idea from Justin A. Reynolds, with the main character, Jamal, getting the chance to see his best friend Q reanimated for a short time after he died in an accident. Having the chance to see a loved one for a final time after a sudden passing is something everyone would love to do. The way this plot considers the themes of loss, love and friendship is really incredible. It can be quite difficult to find a book that references grief and relationships in such a well-thought way and the author definitely did a good job with this book.

Overall, I loved this book. It was incredibly well-written, touching and thought-provoking. I have already recommended it to two friends who enjoyed reading Opposite of Always. I hope other people enjoy this book as much as I did and recognise the important and touching threads of friendship and loss combined in this beautiful novel.
